Theatrical educational excursion "Ceramics Road"

Arriving in Kuršėnai, you will be invited to travel back to the 19th century, to a world where works of art are born from clay, and history, still echoing in the manor's vaults, spreads wisdom and beauty. Kuršėnai is deservedly called the Capital of Potters - it is a city where ceramics has become not only a craft, but also a living symbol of culture, presented at various events in Lithuania.

The theatrical educational excursion "Ceramics Road" will become a real journey through the world of Kuršėnai ceramics. You will visit the VIII Lithuanian Potter King Vydmantas Vertelis in his workshop-museum, where examples of works created by several generations are kept. Later, the journey continues to the folk artist, ceramist Zita Pastaukienė-Čekanauskienė, who founded a ceramics and painting gallery in her home - a cozy space where creativity, heritage and a modern perspective merge. During the excursion, you will also get to know the sculptures dedicated to potters that have appeared in the spaces of Kuršėnai city, which are intertwined with legends, and the secrets of the manor will be shared by the Goddess Žemyna, who embodies old traditions and conveys a lively story about the Kuršėnai Manor and the permanent ceramic exhibitions operating there.

The education culminates in an up-close encounter with clay – in the vicinity of the Kuršėnai Manor workshop, together with experienced craftsmen, you will participate in a leavened pottery education, during which each participant will create an authentic piece with their own hands. The day will end with an ancient feast: in the vaults of the manor, you will taste a kugel baked in an ancient oven, served in clay pots, and listen to sung poetry that will make the journey through time meaningful.
